About Snæfell

Mt. Snæfell (1833) is the highest mountain in Iceland, excluding glacier peaks. The mountain is positioned inside the Vatnajökull national park. The hike up Mt. Snæfell is best enjoyed at the later part of summer. The hike requires good technical skills and stamina to complete.

The road to the starting point of the hike is only accessible by four wheel drive cars. It is recommended to stop at the Mt. Snæfell lodge and evaluate the weather and path conditions before starting the hike. Recommended time to plan for the hike is around 7-9 hours.
