Snæfellsstofa is the visitor centre for the east territory of Vatnajökull National park and also an information centre for tourists. Immerse yourself in the exhibits about nature‘s cycles and formation in the highlands north of the Vatnajokull glacier with multimedia and educational activities for children.

Souvenir shop on site that focuses on locally produced products. There is also a small coffee shop. Free admission and excellent handicap access.

The visitor centre opened in June 2010 and is the first BREEAM certified building in Iceland.

Vatnajökull National Park is one of the largest National Parks in Europe, around 14.000 km2. The interplay of large glacier and volcanism has created many, greatly varying, landscape features wich make the area unique in the world.
